Sleeve cutting method with body measurement
We will learn sleeve cutting method for any regular kurti with all the respective body measurements.
Required Measurements For Regular Kurti Cutting:
Here is the method to take body measurements.
- Sleeve length – measure from the shoulder in the hand till the length is to be kept
- Sleeve round(mori) – take a hand measurement in the round where the length of the sleeve is reached
- Width between sleeves – take the measurement in the round, as much as the hands are thicker
Method:
- After taking measurements as written, fold the fabric 2 times.
Steps with the figure:
- Let’s take an example with measurements as given below:
- Sleeve length: 16″
- Sleeve round(mori): 11″
- Width between sleeves: 15″
- Firstly, take the length and add 1.5″ on the folded side, as shown in the figure.
- Length = 16″+1.5″
- Secondly, take the measurement of the sleeve round(mori) from the length, for that take 1/2 of the sleeve round and add 1.5″
- Sleeve round(mori) = 11″/2 = 5.5″+1.5″
- As shown in the figure, for taking the width of the sleeves keep 3.5″ from the top, for that take 1/2 of the sleeve width, and add 1.5″
- Sleeve width = 15″/2 = 7.5″+1.5″
- Then draw the front side round and the back side round separately.
- Firstly, cut the back side round.
- Then, separate both sides of the sleeves and cut the front side in both sleeves.
- All the measurements are given in inches(“).
Other Objectives:
- This sleeve cutting is for any regular kurti, or top-like shirt as well.
- We can change the size of the length accordingly; for example, if we want to make full sleeves then increase the length.
- According to the design of kurti, we can also make various designs in the particular sleeve.
- Different styles of sleeves add to a garment’s silhouette and style and can create movement and structure to the piece.
Conclusion:
- I hope this method of drafting the sleeves will help you in making any type of sleeves.
