Blazer(Coat) Collar – Cutting & Stitching

A lapel is the collar of a coat or jacket, considered a blazer(coat) collar.
In the past, we have seen stand collars, halter collars & shirt collars for kurti & blouses.
At present, we will learn about the blazer(coat) collar-cutting and stitching method.

Follow these few steps for the same:

CUTTING METHOD:

  • Let’s take an example,
    • Front neck length: 3.5″
    • Back neck length: 0.5″
    • Chest: 36″
  • To make this collar, the measurement of the shoulder should be the same as the shoulder length in the body.
  • The width of the neck should be counted as 1/12 of the chest.
    • Neck width = 36″/12 = 3″
  • The blouse has a hook strip at the front to make the blazer collar.
  • Take the neck width of 3″ and length 3.5″ on the front side and give the collar shape.
  • When the length of the neck reaches 3.5″, take the outer side 1.5″ more and make a triangle collar shape.
  • The total length of the neck should be 7-8″.
  • Make the cutting as shown in the figure(a) below.
