Stand Collar Neck Pattern

Previously, we have learned the regular neck pattern for kurti.
Now, we will learn the stand collar neck pattern for a regular kurti.

Follow these few steps for the same:

• While cutting any kurti, the shoulder is measured exactly as we have taken in the body measurements to make a neck with a collar.
• The width of the neck is considered to be 1/12 of the chest.
• Let’s say the chest is 36″.
  • Neck width = 36″/12 = 3″
• As referred to in figure(a), if shoulder=16″, you should keep half of that in cutting.
  • Shoulder = 16″/2 = 8″
• In the cutting of the collared kurti as shown in figure(a), the shoulder portion is taken 0.5″ lower at the front side of the kurti.
• Measurement is a total of 7″ in neck length, which includes a stand collar in 3.5″ neck length, and any neck shape in 3.5″ (3″-4″ is the basic neck length for any neck pattern with collar).
  • Total neck length = neck length + neck shape = 3.5″+3.5″ = 7″

• After cutting, a stand strip(of collar) is to be placed in the neck, except the neck shape which is patterned.
• After stitching the shoulder, the measurement of the stand strip(of collar) is taken.
• By measuring the round of the neck, and cutting the stand strip as per the size.
• If the shoulder round measures 16″, take the folded part of the canvas half and cut adding 0.5″ to that, as shown in figure(b) below.
  • 16″/2 = 8″+0.5″ = 8.5″
• To cut the stand strip(of collar) into the canvas, take the folded part and draw an 8.5″ * 1.75″ rectangle, then make a 1″-2″ curve (here we have taken a 1.5″ curve) from its middle point.
• Now, shape the collar by pointing 0.75″ for the curve above.

• To put a stand strip(of collar) in the kurti, the shape comes out in the canvas itself.
• Iron it into the fabric and cut out another piece of fabric, then fit it into the round part of the neck.

Other Objectives:

• This is just a method of stand collar neck pattern, neck of different shapes can also be made.
• The cutting method for the stand collar is the same in all neck patterns,  just the shape of the neck cutting is different.
• Stand collar neck pattern is also made in blouse, shirt, etc.
