Shirt (Double Collar) Cutting Method

There are many different types of collars available in fashion.
We have already learned some of them like stand collar, halter(high neck) collar, shirt collar, blazer(coat) collar & patta collar.
At present, we will learn about the shirt (double collar) cutting method.

First, we have to cut the shirt as we have seen before in ladies’ shirt collar.
Then collar cutting is done in such a way that the round measurement of the neck is obtained.
After making the shoulder joint, measure the neck from the fold in the round.
For example, if the measurement of the whole round is 15″, the measurement from the folded part comes to 7.5″ and adding 0.5″ to it, so the final measurement comes to 8″.

Follow these few steps for the same:

  • Let’s take an example
    • Front neck length: 8″
  • Firstly, as shown in figure(a), take a neck measurement in the canvas where width is 4″ and length is 8″.
  • Secondly, give a curve of 0.5″ below the open side as drawn in the figure(a).
  • Now, draw a line leaving a space of 0.25″ on the fold side.
  • Then keep a line touch in the middle part.
  • Draw a line 3″ above and 1″ below the folded part, as explained in below figure(a).
  • Bend the open side in the same way as we have done in the stand collar.
  • Draw a diagonal line 0.5″ from the top 1″ inside the bend of the stand collar strip.
  • There is a collar of 3″ on the folded side and cut 0.25″ above and below both sides and draw a diagonal line.

  • In this collar, cutting is done in both parts.
  • 1 as a stand collar and the other as in a single shirt collar.
  • The shirt collar is first joined to the fabric and cut to the stand strip portion and then joined to the shirt.
